Jason Bernstein has over 20 years of experience in international trade and investment and is the founder of Trade Rules, a firm that provides clients with detailed, practical advice on how to comply with international trade rules and customs regulations. Until June 2020, Jason served as Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative for American Competitiveness and Enterprise at the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), and the senior U.S. trade negotiator and policy advisor on all rules of origin and customs affairs. Jason provides detailed, practical advice on how to comply with international trade rules and customs regulations and has successfully resolved numerous trade and customs issues on automotive goods, steel and aluminum, information technology, chemical products, oil and gas, and agricultural goods. Before becoming a Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Representative, Jason was the Director of Customs Affairs and the Director of Market Access at USTR, as an International Economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisers, and as a Senior Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
