Dr. Ryan MacFarlane has over a dozen years of experience working on international government affairs, health, and environmental issues. Ryan has worked at NOAA, DHS, and the U.S. Department of State, where he served as the Principal APEC Coordinator for the U.S. Government. He is currently a Director at Crowell & Moring International where he advises companies and associations across a wide range of sectors and helps to develop policy and engagement strategies and innovative public-private partnerships and initiatives. Ryan currently serves as private sector advisor to the APEC Life Sciences Innovation Forum (LSIF), Sherpa for the healthcare financing and circular economy initiatives within the Asia-Pacific Financial Forum, coordinator of APEC’s working group on marine debris, and represents the business and industry major group at United Nations Environment Assembly meetings. Ryan completed a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from Stanford University School of Medicine and a postdoctoral fellowship in infectious diseases.
